ALDI opens Signal Mountain store Thursday in major national expansion plan

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – The grocery wars in Chattanooga continues to boom with the expansion of the ALDI chain in our area.

The discount grocery chain will open a store at the foot of Signal Mountain on Thursday.

The ribbon cutting will be at 8:45 AM at 680 Signal Mountain Road.

Store management will give away free produce for a year to celebrate.

This will be the 7th ALDIs location in our market, including stores in Cleveland and Dalton.

The new store is one of 2500 the company pledged to build by 2022, making them the 3rd largest grocery chain in the country.

The ALDIs opening comes a week after Publix opened their 7th store in our market last week in Fort Oglethorpe.

For comparison, market leader Food City has around 25 stores from Athens to Dalton.
