Red Wolves Soccer Club plans to build their own stadium

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga’s new professional soccer team announces their plans on where they will play.

The question has been whether they would compete with Chattanooga FC at Finley Stadium.

But on Thursday, they announced plans to build their own place.

In the meantime, they will play their first season in 2019 at Chattanooga Christian’s soccer field.

David Stanton field at Chattanooga Christian seats 3,500 people but the Red Wolves will add temporary seating to expand that to 5,000.

They say that is the same intimate atmosphere they will look for in their permanent stadium.

“Building our own soccer-specific stadium allows us to create an atmosphere true to our fans, team and the sport that can’t be replicated elsewhere,” said team owner Bob Martino.

“Making Chattanooga a better place to live, work and play through creating a family oriented soccer experience is a priority for us. As I said when I first announced the team, I am personally and professionally committed to Chattanooga. This stadium will have an enormous economic impact around the region.”

Martino is promising a first-class soccer facility with skyboxes.

He is also considering retail stores, commercial buildings and housing around it.

Next year, they want to add food trucks and youth areas to the Chattanooga Christian field.

“Chattanooga Christian School has outstanding athletic facilities including a brand new weight room,” said Sean McDaniel, president and general manager of Chattanooga Red Wolves SC. “We are grateful for the school and President Chad Dirkse allowing us to use their home field while our stadium is being built.”
