Man With 3 Prior DUIs And Revoked License Speeds Wrong Way On Rossville Boulevard

Police said a man with three prior DUIs and a revoked license was speeding on Rossville Boulevard early Saturday morning while driving in the wrong direction.

Johnny Lee Alexander, 50, of 2434 Dodds Ave., was charged with fourth offense DUI and driving on a revoked license.

An officer said he was driving on Rossville Boulevard when he saw a vehicle coming in the wrong lane toward him. The officer said he thought his vehicle was going to be hit head-on.

He said the vehicle went past him and continued on in the wrong lane. He was able to get the vehicle stopped.

The officer said the driver appeared to be unsteady on his feet. He said he had drank alcohol earlier. He said the driver performed poorly a field sobriety test.

The officer said Alexander was driving 52 in a 40 mph zone.

It was found that Alexander had prior DUIs in 2007, 2009 and April 23 of this year.
