Chattanooga firefighters were dispatched to a reported house fire at 5:20 p.m. on Wednesday, with possible entrapment. CFD Training Chief William Andrews happened to be in the area and responded to the scene at 1930 Bay Pointe Drive, along with firefighters with seven fire companies.

Firefighters with Engine 11 were the first on the scene and they located the fire in the basement. Chief Andrews said the firefighters made an aggressive fire attack and had the fire out within 15 minutes, containing the fire damage to the basement. The rest of the house had some smoke and water damage. No injuries were reported.

A 75 year-old-woman and her eight-year-old granddaughter were home when the fire broke out, but they got out of the house uninjured.

Chief Andrews said the loss was estimated at around $15,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Chattanooga Police, Hamilton County EMS and Chattanooga-Hamilton County Rescue Rehab also provided assistance on the scene.
