A house on Wheeler Avenue burned late Tuesday night, and it was later found that no one was at home at the time.

At approximately 11:32 p.m., the Chattanooga Fire Department, Chattanooga Police and Hamilton County EMS Medic 14 were dispatched to 1803 Wheeler Ave. on a fully involved house fire.

Engine 4, Engine 5, Quint 10, Squad 1 with Engine 15, Battalion 1 and Battalion 3 were all dispatched to the residence to assist. A neighbor had reported by phone to 911 dispatch a fully involved house fire with concern for anyone that may have still been at the home.

First arriving on the scene Engine Company, Engine 4, established command, made an investigation with primary searches even while creating an initial fire attack. Efforts included support of other emergency fire response crews within this CFD command. Participating fire companies Engine 4, Engine 5, Quint 10, Engine 15 and Squad 1, all worked well with timely fire suppression techniques to make a quick knock down of the residential fire, Battalion Chief Don Bowman said.

After several rescue searches and fire suppression procedures, information was gathered confirming no one was at home during the fire, allowing for no injuries nor fatalities during this incident.

The American Red Cross was called and reported to the scene to support the family.

The fire is still under investigation.
