Police said a driver going the wrong way on Main Street at a high rate of speed on Sunday crashed into two vehicles and injured four people.
Donald R. Burton, 52, of 1006 Gillespie Road, is charged with 2nd-offense DUI, four counts of vehicular assault, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to yield right of way, and reckless endangerment.
An officer said he saw the Burton vehicle going into four different lanes, while traveling over 70 mph in the 35 mph zone.
He said the vehicle did not slow at the intersection of Main and Dodds Avenue and then struck two other vehicles. It badly damaged both vehicles.
Three of the victims were transported to the hospital for multiple injuries. One woman had multiple facial injuries, while another and leg and hip injuries. A third woman suffered neck and back pain as did a man in one of the vehicles.
Burton tried to drive away, but his vehicle gave out after going a block. Burton had a strong odor of an intoxicant and had several open containers in the vehicle.
He had two prior DUIs, including 1990 in White County and 2008 in Hamilton County.
