Joshua T. Hale
Police have charged Joshua T. Hale in a hit and run in Lookout Valley that sent a man in another car to the hospital.
Hale, 29, of 3822 Kellys Ferry Road, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, driving left of the center line, reckless endangerment, not having insurance, failure to report an accident, failure to maintain lane, and failure to report an accident, and failure to exercise due care.
In the incident on Friday, Tanner Hoge said he was going southbound on Browns Ferry Road in his Jeep Cherokee when he saw a F250 pickup truck coming at him in his lane.
He said he tried to get out of the way, but the pickup struck the rear of his driver's side, sending him into a utility pole. The pole, that was near the Mapco station, was knocked over.
The victim was taken to the hospital with a laceration to the head.
Witnesses said a white male with a beard stopped briefly, but then drove off in his pickup truck.
Police were advised it was Hale, and the truck with heavy front-end damage was found at his residence. He was not located until later.
Police said the wreck was captured on video at the Mapco. The pickup truck should not have been visible in the video had it been in the correct lane, it was stated.
