Police said the shooting of a woman on Ocoee Street last Sept. 24 came after the vehicle she was in was sideswiped and the vehicle was followed to try to get the tag number.

Chattanooga Police have charged Britian Crutcher, 26, of 1911 Taylor St., with the shooting of LaSandra Burdette. Police also recently charged Crutcher in the homicide of 28-year-old Ladarius Cross.

Ms. Burdette, 26, was shot just after 3 a.m. in the 2000 block of Ocoee Street in Avondale. Her vehicle was involved in a minor wreck just before the shooting. The shooter was in another vehicle.

Ms. Burdette said she was in the front passenger seat of a vehicle in the early morning when a red SUV sideswiped them at Holtzclaw and Wilson Street. She said they decided to follow the red SUV to try to get the tag number.

She said at the intersection of Ocoee and Bradt Street that the passenger in the red SUV reached out the window and fired several rounds. One struck her in the left shoulder. She went to Erlanger Hospital for treatment.

Ms. Burdette said the driver of the red SUV was a black male with dreads. She was able to provide the tag number.

Police said Charlita Grant was listed as the owner of the red Kia SUV. She told police that Britian Crutcher used the vehicle while she visited Langdon Crutcher at Parkridge Hospital. Police said that was within the time of the shooting.

She said she questioned the damage to the side of the vehicle, but Britian Crutcher only said it was parked at a club.

Video from Parkridge Hospital shows Britian Crutcher arriving at 3:46 a.m. on Sept. 24. He is seen entering the hospital wearing a white and black Nike shirt and black jeans.

Police said evidence was recovered from Crutcher's Facebook account "in which communications, details and cover up attempts relating to this incident were observed."

Concerning the murder case, on Nov. 18, 2017, at approximately 5:16 a.m., police responded to the 800 block of Wheeler Avenue, where two victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds.
Cross was pronounced deceased on scene and Terrance Careathers, 26, was suffering from non-life threatening injuries.
