Police have charged four youths in a series of car break-ins in the vicinity of Heron Bay Circle.

In the incident on Saturday, an officer was dispatched on a car burglary that had just occurred. The officer spotted a blue Chevy Cobalt driving slowly through the neighborhood. The officer turned around and began to follow the vehicle.

The officer sped off after briefly stopping in the 8100 block of Snow Hill Road. It drove at speeds up to 90 mph before the driver lost control in curves near Ooltewah High School.

The vehicle left the roadway and went through a fence at the school.

Three of the occupants surrendered, while one fled. In the car were driver Jermichael Cole, 18, and two juveniles. The minors were taken to the Juvenile Detention Center.

The person who fled was identified as Derrick Blake Summers, 18, of 601 Over St.
