Volunteers worked to make 100 pillowcases for Ryan’s Case for Smiles

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) – Dozens of volunteers helped make pillowcases for a national organization, Ryan’s cases for smiles.

This was the first time a group helped the national initiative here in Chattanooga.

Today’s event was at the Creative Discovery Museum.

It was created to help with the sometimes terrifying hospital experience for both a child and their family.

Ryan’s Case for Smiles helps with the stress and emotional impact of illness by giving them whimsical pillowcases to give children an emotional boost.

They also provide resources and tools help families better understand and cope with the experience.

Brittany Clark says “When it’s delivered it actually has a card with a link to our website that has resources for the children, the family, for the parents, for the siblings because cancer is not just the child’s battle, it’s the entire family’s battle.”

Their goal was 100 cases today.

The volunteers were of all ages and many got to sew for the very first time.
