A Chattanooga man who earlier served time for an attempted first-degree murder is now facing an armed robbery count.

Garion Devilliar Lewis Jr., 33, is charged with aggravated robbery as well as drug and gun counts.

In an incident on May 9, a man who no longer lives in Chattanooga said he was leaving his mother's residence on Sholar Avenue when he saw a man he knows across the street. He said the man was with two other people.

He said one of the other people asked him why he was wearing all red. He said he told him he "does not gang bang."

He said the man told him he is a Crip, then he pulled out a large black semi-automatic pistol with an extended magazine from a backpack.

He demanded everything he had in his pockets. The man gave him $900 and his IPhone 6.

The man said he was forced to walk to his vehicle, while the robber searched it for valuables but did not find anything. The robber then left in a white Chevy SUV.

The robber was described as a black male, 6'-6'2", muscular build, long dreads, wearing blue pajama pants with green designs, a light green shirt with white lettering and white high-top sneakers.

He went back to his mother's and called police.

Police began looking for the white Chevy SUV and it was spotted at the K Market on Dodson Avenue. Officers said a man matching the description of the robber went in the store, then he ran out of the store and jumped a fence.

Police found heroin, pills and other drugs inside the vehicle. There were several items with the name Garion Lewis on them.

The man who was robbed said he looked on the Facebook page of the man he had stopped to visit. He said one of the man's "friends" was the one who robbed him.

He later identified the man in the Facebook photo as well as the man seen in video from the K Market as the one who robbed him at gunpoint.

Lewis was given a 15-year prison sentence for the 2003 attempted first-degree murder.
