Firefighters support Captain seriously injured in a motorcycle crash

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga firefighters are organizing a blood drive and relief fund for one of their own seriously injured in a motorcycle crash last night.

Captain Shellie Thorne was riding with a friend Thursday night on Mayflower Road.

Police investigators say a vehicle failed to yield to the motorcycle and pulled out in front ot it.

Both people on the motorcycle were transported to the hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the vehicle was not hurt.

The Fire Department has set up a blood drive at the Fire Training Center for Monday (7-3) for the victims.

Donors should mention donor #571389.

But you can also donate Friday and Saturday at any Blood Assurance facility, using the account number.

The Firefighters Relief Fund will also be taking donations at First Tennessee Bank.

The funds raised will be used to help defray medical expenses, which will be extensive.
