Girl, 17, Injured In Rope Swing Accident At Denny's Point

A 17-year-old girls from Florida who was visiting friends in Chattanooga was inured in a rope swing accident at Lake Chickamauga on Saturday afternoon.

Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department officials reported several teenagers were cliff jumping and rope swimming at the site near Sequoyah Nuclear Plant.

At 2:15 p.m., a 911 call was made reporting that the girl was swinging from a rope, let go of the rope and plunged to the waters. Others on the scene reported to rescue personnel that she went unconscious after hitting the water. 

Several people jumped in the water and immediately put her in a nearby boat to transport her across the river to Shady Grove Marina in Soddy Daisy.

Dallas Bay VFD personnel were waiting for the injured girl at Shady Grove Marina.

Rescue personnel reported she was transported by Hamilton County EMS to the hospital for treatment.
