Brainerd home destroyed by fire in early morning hours

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – A home under renovation in Brainerd was destroyed overnight by fire.

Chattanooga firefighters were called to 3403 Gay Street around 2 AM.

Fire crews had to cut a lock to a gate at the street to get to the property.

By the time they got there, the house was totally involved.

The home was not occupied because of the renovation.

Firefighters could not save the structure but kept the fire from spreading to neighbors.
