Police investigating stabbing on East Brainerd Road

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — Chattanooga Police are investigating after a man showed up at a local hospital with a life threatening stab wound Sunday night.

Police say they were dispatched to the 7700 block of East Brainerd Road for a fight around 6:50 p.m. Sunday.

However, officers say they were unable to locate a fight or a victim. Police say they did find evidence of an altercation.

According to Chattanooga Police, officers were advised about half an hour later that a man had arrived at the hospital with an apparent stab wound to the back.

Police have identified the victim as 37-year-old Christopher McGill.

Police say his injuries are life threatening.

The Violent Crimes Bureau is investigating.
