UTC Will Study Possibility of On-Campus Football Stadium as Apart of Master Feasibility Plan

Chattanooga-(WDEF-TV) UTC plans to study the possibilities of building an on-campus football stadium.
It’s all apart of a master plan to access their current athletic facilities. Chattanooga currently plays their home football games at Finley Stadium, and UTC pays a monthly rental fee to use Finley. The overall master feasibility plan will take a look at utilizing the old baseball field, Engel Stadium, as a possible new football stadium. UTC owns that property. Mocs athletic director Mark Wharton says that study should be completed in the spring. Said Wharton:”East Tennessee State just built their football stadium for 24-million, and it’s a nice stadium, but it’s bare-bones. you know $24-million is a lot of money. So it will all have to deal with a lot of alignment with the city, county, Finley, and what’s right for UTC. What’s right for the city of Chattanooga. I can’t tell you what the deciding factor is.”

For now though, Wharton says UTC should be signing a new three year extension with Finley Stadium.
