Jury Finds Tyrone Murphy Guilty Of 1st Degree Murder In Highland Park Slaying

A Criminal Court jury on Friday afternoon found 58-year-old Tyrone Murphy guilty of first degree murder.

That carries an automatic life prison sentence.

The jury in the courtroom of Judge Barry Steelman deliberated just 50 minutes.  

He was found guilty in the June 4, 2017 stabbing death of 30-year-old Ashley Cates at an apartment building at 1512 Bailey Ave.
