Pedestrian Killed By Hit And Run Driver On Lee Highway On Monday Night

A pedestrian was struck and killed by a hit and run driver on Lee Highway on Monday night.

At 8:49 p.m., Chattanooga Police Traffic was notified about a possible pedestrian struck at  7356 Lee Highway.

The caller said she was driving south on Lee Highway and noticed a shoe in the center turning lane and a body in the ditch.

Hamilton County EMS arrived on the scene and confirmed the victim was deceased.

The victim's fanny pack and do-rag were found in the middle of the southbound travel lane.

Police said roadway evidence suggests that the victim was walking on Lee Highway and was struck by an unknown vehicle. The suspect vehicle fled the scene.

Members of the Chattanooga Police Traffic Division are actively investigating the crash.

Chattanooga Police ask anyone with information regarding this incident to call 423-698-2525 and ask to speak with a Traffic Unit Sergeant or Investigator Cavitt. Tips can also be submitted anonymously through the Chattanooga Police Mobile App.

After the incident, police closed both lanes in the 7300 block of Lee Highway.

They had reopened by 11 p.m.
