Stephen Sheppard
Stephen Sheppard has been arrested in the Aug. 29 stabbing of two men on Clayton Avenue.
Sheppard, 26, is charged with two counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Chattanooga Police responded at approximately 10:04 p.m. to the 3400 block of Clayton Avenue to reports of a stabbing.
When police arrived, several witnesses told officers that two people were stabbed and transported by personal vehicle to a local hospital.
Jesse Whitefield, 38, suffered life-threatening injuries and was initially listed in critical condition.
Phillip Whitefield, 34, suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Witnesses said Sheppard argued with the Whitefields, then it appeared that the disagreement was over. However, he then began stabbing both men multiple times with a large pocket knife, it was stated.
Phillip Whitefield said after he was injured, he ran out of the house. He said he looked back to see Sheppard "whacking" Jesse Whitefield with the knife.
The men went to the hospital by car.
Phillip Whitefield had injuries to his torso. Jesse Whitefield had multiple stab wounds to his torso, arms and head.
Police said Sheppard lived off and on with the Whitefields on Clayton Avenue. He also listed an address on Andrews Street in Rossville.
