Police Say Woman Finished Off Victim On Vance Avenue With Multiple Gunshots

  • Thursday, September 6, 2018
Police said a woman took charge of a gun that had already been used on 52-year-old Norman Sullivan on Labor Day, then finished him off with multiple gunshots.

Witnesses said Domanic Gillespie initially shot the victim at his home on Vance Avenue, then Ieasha Ariona Jones commandeered the weapon.

Ms. Jones, 25, is charged with criminal homicide, felony reckless endangerment, unlawful possession of a weapon, and attempted murder.

Gillispie, 26, is charged with criminal homicide, felony reckless endangerment, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

Police responded just before 4 p.m.
to 2108 Vance Avenue, Apt. 1A. Officers found the victim lying face down in the doorway. He was dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said there were multiple witnesses in the apartment when the murder took place. They were transported to the Police Services Center to be interviewed.

One witness said she was inside when Gillespie and Ms. Jones arrived. She said Ms. Jones stood in the hallway, while Gillespie went into a bedroom with the victim and closed the door.

The witness said she heard a gunshot, then saw Gillespie and Sullivan crash through the bedroom door. She said Sullivan was bleeding from the head.

She said she saw Ms. Jones with a gun in her hand shoot at Sullivan a number of times as he tried to get out of the door to his apartment.

The witness said when all three were outside of the apartment, she heard 3-4 more shots fired. She then saw the victim lying in the doorway.

Another witness said he saw Gillespie striking Sullivan in the head with the butt of a pistol after they crashed through the doorway.

He said he saw Ms. Jones grab the pistol from Gillespie and point it at his face, attempting to shoot him. The witness said the gun misfired.

The witness said Ms. Jones racked the gun's slide several times and pointed the gun at Sullivan. She then shot him several times.

Police said it was concluded that the gun used by Gillespie to shoot the victim in the bedroom was the same gun used by Ms. Jones to shoot him multiple more times.

Police were told that Ms. Jones "has a history of trading sex for crack that she got from victim Sullivan and he suspected that they were attempting to rob victim Sullivan for crack cocaine."

Both suspects were positively identified by witnesses in photo lineups.
