Conner Lewis Bell
Chattanooga Police arrested 22-year-old Conner Lewis Bell in a shooting on Tuesday night.
At around the same time, a pedestrian, Chesney Bell, was struck and seriously injured on E. Fifth Street.
At approximately 6:45 p.m., the Chattanooga Police Department's Violent Crimes and Traffic Divisions responded to 2500 East 5th on a person shot and pedestrian struck.
Conner Bell lives at that address.
Upon arrival, officers located Jefferie Chambers suffering from multiple gunshot wounds at the intersection of Ivy and Kilmer streets.
Officers also located Ms. Bell, who had been struck by a vehicle at 2500 E. 5th.
Both victims were transported to a local hospital by Hamilton County EMS. The shooting victim had non-life threatening injuries. The pedestrian struck suffered serious injuries.
Bell was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Jail on charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.
Authorities said he could face additional charges pending the outcome of the pedestrian struck investigation.
Circumstances surrounding the traffic crash are still under investigation.
Police said Conner Bell shot Jefferie Chambers multiple times after he (Chambers) assisted him with a vehicle.
Bell told police that Chambers pushed him and in return he shot him.
Bell said Chambers ran toward Ivy Street after being shot. He was shot in the neck, forearm and hand.
Police said it was determined that Bell unnecessarily used deadly force and was not in imminent danger at the time.
The condition of Chambers is listed as stable.
