ONLY ON 12: Two Big Ridge Elementary students win Red Wolves design contest

HIXSON, Tenn. (WDEF) — The Chattanooga Red Wolves SC mascot is officially designed, thanks to Tennessee Valley elementary school students.

More than 400 entries from area elementary and middle school art classes were considered for the new mascot design.

The winners received game tickets and t-shirts for their entire class.

Both first and second place winners were from Big Ridge Elementary in Hixson.

Chapman Mathis won second, for her stylish headband idea.

And Woody Tate won first for his attention to detail and bushy tail.

Sofia Turpin from CSAS won third place.

The Red Wolves have taken ideas from these three winners and incorporated them into the official mascot design. The mascot will be revealed at the Red Wolves home opener against Forward Madison on April 6.
