A mobile home was destroyed by fire early Friday morning in Soddy Daisy.
A Soddy Daisy resident woke to the smell of smoke and his bed on fire. At 5:20 a.m., a 911 call was made reporting the mobile home fire at 1901 Wilkes Ave.
The Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department responded and arrived on the scene reporting a fully involved mobile home fire.
Once firefighters could confirm everyone was out of the home, firefighters quickly conducted a defensive attack to extinguish the fire.
According to Dallas Bay Fire officials, the homeowner reported he awoke to his bed on fire. He was able to throw his blankets out the window but could not extinguish the fire on his mattress. The homeowners were able to escape without injury.
Dallas Bay Volunteer Fire Department requested a Mutual Aid response for additional manpower. Red Bank Fire Department responded to the scene. The Soddy Daisy Fire Department and Chattanooga Fire Department stood by at Dallas Bay fire stations for any additional emergency calls in their district.
The cause of the fire has not been determined at this time. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating this fire. The house will be a total loss. Two cars and two adjacent homes sustained heat and fire damage totaling $50,000.
The American Red Cross will be assisting the fire victims with their emergency needs.
