A home in East Lake was damaged by fire on Saturday evening.
Chattanooga firefighters with E5, Q9, L1, Q2, S1, and East Ridge S1 responded to a reported structure fire at 2803 S. Hawthorne Street. Captain Joey Smith with E5 advised a working fire upon arrival. Crews made an interior attack and had the fire extinguished in approximately 15 minutes.
No injuries were reported as all people had evacuated the residence prior to the fire department's arrival.
However, one adult and four children were displaced and received assistance from the American Red Cross.
The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the property loss is estimated to be approximately $40,000.
Hamilton County EMS, CPD, and EPB provided assistance.
