Student Has Loaded Gun At Hixson High School; Brainerd High Student Totes Unloaded Gun At School; Both Are Arrested Wednesday Morning

A Hixson High School student was caught with a loaded handgun on campus on Wednesday morning.

Across town around the same time, a Brainerd High School student was found with an unloaded handgun at school.

Both juveniles were arrested.

The Sheriff's Office said, "Earlier this morning, information was received at Hixson High School that a student may be in possession of a handgun. A search was conducted of the student and a loaded handgun was discovered in their possession.

"The student was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center and was charged with carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds.

"Earlier this morning, information developed that led to the discovery of an unloaded handgun that was found to be in the possession of a student at Brainerd High School.

"The student was arrested and transported to the Hamilton County Juvenile Detention Center where they were charged with carrying a dangerous weapon on school grounds."
