2 Separate Residential Fires Break Out At Ooltewah Leaving Both Homes As Total Losses

Two separate residential fires broke out in Ooltewah on Saturday night, including one home that was struck by lightning.

The first fire was at 8380 Balata Dr. in Tri-Community Volunteer Fire Department's district around 7:30 p.m. Arriving crews had heavy fire showing on arrival. All occupants were out of the home and no other injuries were reported. The home is a total loss.

There is no estimated loss at this time. The fire is under investigation.

It is unclear if this was weather related.

There was a second fire at 8427 Heron Circle around the same time in Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department's district. Homeowners who were home at the time reported the house being struck by lightning.

First arriving fire units also met with heavy fire conditions through the roof. Heavy rains and storms passing through the area made conditions tough for firefighters to work in.

All residents escaped without injury. The home is also considered a total loss.

No estimate is loss value is available yet and no other injuries were reported.

Hamilton County EMS was on scene at both fires for stand by in case any injuries occurred.

Several Mutual Aid Departments were called to the scenes and to cover districts during both fire operations including Chattanooga Fire Department, Bradley County, East Ridge , Meigs , Catoosa County and Cleveland Fire.
