Police Blotter: Shoplifters Get $2,000 In Fragrances From Mall Store; Airbnb Operator Unhappy With Guests; Man In Bathroom At China Moon For Over An Hour Did Not Fall Asleep After All

Police said a trio of shoplifters stole approximately $2,000 in womens fragrances from a shop at Hamilton Place Mall. The manager of Sephora said three unknown black females concealed store merchandise and exited the store without paying. The incident was caught on video.

A woman on Stage Road said she caught on her home security video an unknown suspect take mail from her mail box at approximately 1:28 in the morning. It shows a white vehicle, possibly a Chevy Malibu, stop at the mail box in front of the residence and then drive away. She said it is unknown if anything of value was taken from the mail box, as she mostly leaves junk mail in there. However, she did not check her mail the prior day.

A caller said he left his vehicle running outside of the Chattanooga Beard Company on Airport Road while he was inside. An unknown black male took the golden opportunity to steal the vehicle and left in an unknown direction. An employee of the business said they observed a black male wearing a white sweater with large logos leave in the vehicle. Police could not locate the vehicle in the immediate area and a "BOLO" was placed for the vehicle.

An employee of the Walmart on Highway 153 said, while on his lunch break, he used the ATM machine next to customer service. While using the machine, he set his cell phone in the top of the machine and walked off without taking it. Several minutes later a younger looking white female walked by the ATM, saw the phone sitting there, looked around and took it. She then walked out the front door and drove off in a gray Nissan. The phone was a Samsung J that the employee paid $264 for. It was a black phone with a gold case.

A man said he was parked at the Shell gas station on Wilcox when two black males jumped in the back of his truck. He stated he didn't see the pair until he started driving again. He said once he called police and stopped the vehicle both men jumped out and ran off.

Officers were called to a residence on Bonny Oaks Drive on complaints of a man blowing his vehicle's horn. The man said he was trying to wake his friend up who lived in the apartment complex because his vehicle wouldn't start and he needed a ride home. Police then transported the man to his residence on Stockton Drive.

The manager of the Tallan Building on MLK Boulevard said a black male who he knows as Marcel McKinney came onto the property and exposed his genitals to a female employee. He said this was the third time in a week that Marcel had come to the property, and each time he has exposed himself. The same man was also reported to be on the property of Warehouse Row the same date.

An airbnb operator on Clermont Drive said he did not have a pleasant experience with one set of guests. The man said someone stayed at his rented out room and they had smoked in the room and may have caused damage to his door. He said when he observed the people staying in the room were smoking he accosted them, they fled the scene. He retrieved some items from the residence and asked police to take it for safe keeping in case the owners wanted the items back. An officer attempted to contact the possible property owner via phone, but no one answered multiple attempts of calling them. The operator was also outraged there were three people staying in the room, when the agreed number of people to be staying in the room was two people.

Police checked out a report that a black male had been in the bathroom for over an hour at China Moon, 5600 Brainerd Road. It was believed he had possibly fallen asleep in the stall. Once Police arrived the complainant stated that the man was awake and he no longer needed Police. Police went to the bathroom to check on the man, who came out of the bathroom and stated that he was okay, and that he was just using the toilet. Police checked the man for warrants and he had none.
