Police Say White Admitted Killing Sharif After Xbox Sale Was Set Up; Posted Laughing Emojis After Shooting

Chattanooga Police said a deal for the sale of an Xbox One wound up with a murder at a Hixson apartment on Tuesday.
 
DMarcus White, 20, of 942 Shallowford Road, was charged with criminal homicide and especially aggravated robbery in the death of Mohammad Sharif, 24.
 
Mr. Sharif was found at 12:20 p.m.
unresponsive lying in the parking lot at 3825 Hixson Pike. He died later at the hospital after being taken by ambulance.

Police checked the victim's cellphone and found that he had been in contact with White through Facebook Messenger about the Xbox. The conversation occurred just minutes before the shooting.

Police located White at 516 Latimore St. and took him to police headquarters for an interview.

He said he had made contacted with Mr. Sharif and planned to rob him of the Xbox. He said during the robbery he shot the victim in the back.

He also told where the gun and the Xbox could be found. Police then located both.

It was found that hours after the shooting that White posted a link to a news story about the incident and added laughing emojis to the post.
