Blasting and ramp closures coming up that you need to know about

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) We have two projects to tell you about that could affect traffic in the coming days.

First, GDOT will shut down some ramps on I 75 over the weekend.

This is part of the Ringgold exit paving project.

Crews will close the North exit ramp from Friday at 7 PM overnight til noon on Saturday.

The entrance ramp will be closed all weekend. Detours will be posted.

The project includes repaving more than 2 miles of Highway 151, replacing the I 75 bridges and re-doing the interchange.

But we still have a long way to go. The project is scheduled to be finished by December of next year (20 months from now).

I 75

TVA will use explosives again next week to work on their power lines at the Raccoon Mountain Pump Storage Facility.

That means you will hear some booms and we’ll get some traffic delays Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday between 9 AM and noon.

Traffic will be stopped on Elder Mountain Road and Raccoon Mountain Road for about 10 minutes when they set off a blast.

Some recreation trails will be closed next week, also, but the rest of the recreation area will be open.

The booms from the explosions may be heard in Chattanooga, so don’t panic!
