Blackboard Bonuses reward teachers during spring break

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF) — The City of Chattanooga found a way to thank teachers during spring break.

On Saturday morning, Chattanooga Mayor Andy Berke kicked off Blackboard Bonuses Week with breakfast for teachers at The Daily Ration.

Starting on March 16 and going through March 24, any Hamilton County School or Headstart employee can get exclusive rewards by showing their school or City ID at participating locations.

More than 40 different businesses are offering different deals for the teachers.

Educators say it means a lot to be appreciated.

“Educators don’t make a lot, especially their position. Especially for me, it means a lot. To know the mayor wants to do this for us. Yes, it feels great,” said Marchelle Reeves, an educational assistant at Orchard Knob Middle School.

“Well, we really wanted to just say thank you to our teachers. They do an incredible job for our community and our kids. This allows them to go to 41 different businesses and have a discount there. And that is our way of saying thank you during spring break,” Mayor Berke said.
