Police Blotter: Woman Who Gets Ride From Good Samaritan Rewards Her By Stealing $400; Bird Is Suspect In Case Of Mysterious White Substance On Cars, Roof

A motel official contacted the Chattanooga Police Department to report that an unknown party is entering an open window to gain entry into the equipment room at the Baymont Inn & Suites at 3540 Cummings Highway. he said they became aware of the incident when their maintenance employee found a blanket and beer cans in the equipment room. He said that the person(s) was using beer packaging to urinate. He said the window is left slightly open because of the heat from the swimming pool. He said several homeless people are standing on the lot and will also come into the lobby.

A man told police that $4,350 worth of items were stolen from his vehicle while parked at Northpoint Boulevard. The losses included two prescription sunglasses worth $300, a $35 digital scale and various sets of darts and carbon shafts. The man later informed police he had found his property on Letgo.com.

A woman said she was at  7300 Lee Hwy. when she pulled over to help a lady walking down the side of the road. She said the female told her she needed a ride home and she offered to provide the ride. She said while en route the woman passenger reached into her purse and took her wallet without her knowing. She had around $400 in her wallet when it was taken. The woman was a heavy set black female with jeans and short hair.

An officer conducting a traffic stop on Highway 153 said, after initiating the stop on a silver Chevrolet Impala (occupied by Jumeka Brown) a red sedan pulled behind his patrol car. A black female identified as Kyshundra Wyatt exited and "started purposely interrupting the traffic stop. I gave several commands for her to get inside of her vehicle so that I could begin my traffic stop investigation. Ms. Wyatt continued to walk towards me while arguing and yelling, therefore for the safety of myself and hers I detained her for the remainder of the traffic stop after which she was released and gave a verbal warning for disorderly conduct and interfering with a police investigation."

A woman on Van Dyke Street said that $800 cash was taken from her vehicle. She believed that she had locked her door upon arriving home last night, but the next morning she realized that someone had made non-forced entry into the vehicle and had taken her rent money. She said this is not the first time this sort of thing has happen at this address.

A woman on Jersey Pike said she started her vehicle to warm it up before work. She said when she went outside to go to work - surprise - she noticed the vehicle was gone. The missing car is a green 1999 Toyota Corolla.

At an apartment complex on Hixson Pike, a woman went out to warm up her gold 2002 Hyundai. A short time later it was gone. Afterward, a sheriff deputy recovered the vehicle at another address on Hixson Pike.

A man said his vehicle had broken down and he left it parked overnight at the O Reilly Auto Parts store on E 23rd Street over night until he could come back in the morning and work on the vehicle. When he arrived at the store the next morning to work on the vehicle he observed that it had been vandalized and items had been taken from the vehicle. The unknown suspects stole the jack that the vehicle was sitting on, a bag of golf clubs and swiped the battery out of the vehicle.

A resident of Norfolk Green Circle said there were three packages on her door step from three different stores. She said "an unknown party" removed those packages.

A resident of Lakeshore Lane told police that he woke up and noticed that his red Toyota Tacoma pickup truck appeared to have white paint on the roof and on the driver side window and panel. His mother told police that also her vehicle, a black Lexus GX BA, had paint on the roof and on the driver side doors and windows. The man showed video footage of the incident to police. When police reviewed the video, the camera showed the white substance hitting the vehicles yet no suspects in the area. While on the scene workers with Hilton Construction were working on the residents' roof and told police that the same substance was noticed on the roof. Workers believed that the white substance "was from a passing bird."
