The City Council had four short term vacation rentals on the agenda on Tuesday and approved one.
Two were denied and another was deferred for two weeks.
The council approved a new townhome at 416 Ziegler St. for a rental after Councilman Chip Henderson added two requirements. One is a noise monitor and the other is that only one parking space will be taken.
The application was by Jason and Caitlin Burge, who live in Atlanta but said they often visit Chattanooga.
Mr. Burge said he expects the unit will often be rented to persons awaiting the construction of their new homes. He said that may be for weeks or even months.
Jacqualynn D. Ryan applied for rentals at 905 Ivy St. and 1908 Vine St.
However, Councilman Anthony Byrd said members of the neighborhood association are opposed "and do not even want to be in the overlay district."
Michael and Holly Acord applied for a short term vacation rental at 1793 E. 12th St.
Councilman Byrd said there was divided opinion at a neighborhood meeting on the application. He asked that the couple meet further with neighbors and bring the application back on June 4.
