A home in East Lake was damaged by fire Tuesday morning.
Just before 11:30 a.m. the Chattanooga Fire Department was dispatched to a reported house fire at 2125 E. 28th Street in East Lake.
The first arriving fire company reported light smoke coming from the attic. Fire crews made an aggressive attack through the roof to gain access to the seat of the fire. The fire was quickly extinguished, but the house had water and smoke damage, displacing the family of two. Firefighters did save the family dog.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family with temporary housing.
Seven Chattanooga Fire companies responded to the call in the over 90-degree heat. Hamilton Emergency Medical Services, Chattanooga Police Department, American Red Cross, and Electric Power Board were on scene to assist.
No injuries were reported and the cause is under investigation.
