Camaron Billips, 23, was injured Thursday morning at 510 Gillespie Road when a SWAT team serving a warrant fired shots inside the home.  The SWAT Team attempted to serve a search warrant at the residence in response to recent gun-related community violence.

Authorities said Billups was armed. While inside the residence, officers engaged with the suspect, shots were fired and Billips sustained injuries, police said.

He was transported by ambulance and has been hospitalized.

Police said Friday morning that Billips remained at a local hospital and, once released, will face four counts of aggravated assault on police, possession of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of heroin for resale, possession of crack cocaine for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of Schedule III Controlled Substance and criminal conspiracy to sell heroin.

Demetrius Bibbs, 27, and Carmen Noble, 26, who were present at the Gillespie Road address at the time of the search warrant execution, were also arrested.

They face charges of possession of heroin for resale, possession of crack cocaine for resale, possession of drug paraphernalia, simple possession of Schedule III Controlled Substance and criminal conspiracy to sell heroin.

Police said the SWAT team served a warrant at about 6:15 a.m. after the community complained several times about guns and other criminal activity at the home.

No officers were hurt in the incident.

As investigators processed the scene a firearm believed to be the suspect's was located.

Billips was previously booked into the Hamilton County Jail with the last name spelled “Billups.” His legal name is Camaron Billips.

Per Chattanooga Police Department policy, involved officers have been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office will be handling the criminal investigation.
