A 16-year-old suffered first- and second-degree burns in a house fire in Eastdale on Sunday morning.
Authorities said the fire was apparently caused by children playing with a lighter.
At approximately 10:22 a.m., the Chattanooga Fire Department was dispatched to a house fire at 1503 Lillian Lane.
Several fire department apparatus responded to the scene and extinguished the heavily involved house in fire less than 30 minutes.
Fire companies from CFD immediately evacuated, searched the residence and extinguished the fire quickly. Fire companies dispatched were Engine 15, Engine 4, Quint 6, Quint 13, Squad 7 and Squad 13. Battalion Chief 1 and 2 were there to supervise and command the emergency call. Others responding to the residential fire were the Chattanooga Police and CFD fire investigators.
The only injury was the teen, who was transported to Erlanger Hospital.
The rest of the family (four adults and five children) were all safely evacuated from the residence.
The Chattanooga Fire Department requested help for the displaced family through support of the American Red Cross.
