Lamar Nelson Killed, Jonathan Nelson Injured In Single-Vehicle Wreck On McBrien Road

One person was killed and another injured in a single-vehicle crash in the 300 block of McBrien Road on Monday afternoon.

Lamar Nelson, 69, died in the wreck and Jonathan Nelson, 40, was critically injured.

At approximately 3:13 p.m., Chattanooga Police were notified of a crash that occurred at 311 McBrien Road. The CPD Traffic / DUI Unit was notified and responded.

The vehicle was traveling southbound on McBrien Road negotiating a slight curve to the right. Witnesses said the vehicle went across the roadway to the left and then over corrected to the right causing the vehicle to come to rest in a yard at 311 McBrien Road.

After leaving the roadway, the vehicle struck a tree then spun off and came to rest against another tree.

The passenger was unrestrained and suffered fatal injury. The driver was transported to a local hospital with injuries.
