One person killed in single vehicle crash on McBrien Road

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga police confirm one person has died in a car accident this afternoon.

It happened at the 300 block of McBrien Road around 3 this afternoon.

Police say 69 year old, passenger Lamar Nelson suffered a fatal injury.

He was not wearing a seat belt.

CPD says it was a single vehicle traffic crash.

The car was traveling south bound on Mcbrien Road taking a slight curve to the right.

Witnesses say the car went across the roadway to the left then over corrected to the right causing the car to strike a tree and come to rest against another tree in a yard.

The driver was identified as 40 year old, Jonathan Nelson.

Nelson was transported to a local hospital with injuries

All lanes were closed from North Terrace to Lynnland Terrace.
