Police Blotter: Vandals Cause $40,000 In Damage While Playing Bumper Cars With RR Equipment; Fire Department Uses "Hooligan" To Free Woman Locked In Her Room At Microtel

Police responded to 400 Wauhatchie Pike in reference to damaged equipment. Upon arrival police spoke with Richard Murphy who reported that he works for Polivka International and they were contracted by the railroad to build new tracks. In their line of work they use large equipment. These machines stay on site while they are off from work. They shut work down one night and when they returned the next morning he noticed that two of the large machines were vandalized by being used as bumper cars with each other causing approximately $40,000 in damages. There was no suspect info at the time of reporting.

A woman said she was inside a gym on Cherokee Boulevard working out. She said when she came out to her vehicle the window was smashed in and her purse and gym bag were stolen. She said her pink Michael Kors purse  ($200) was taken and inside of it was her pink Michael Kors wallet ($100), also her Social Security card and debit card and Tennessee state ID, also her pacemaker ID. She also had a gym bag with a rose gold "A" emblem on it. Inside her gym bag was a $200 pair of Nikes. She said she has no suspect information. An officer searched the area and found a homeless camp, but he did not locate her purse or her gym bag. Her front passenger window was also smashed in.

An employee at AutoZone said a man came in to return an item.  He said the customer got irate, and began to yell and scream vulgarities in the store. He said he told the man to leave and that when he did, the man reached for a knife. He then left the store, and also called police. The customer said while he was returning an item, the employee got angry and threw his money at him. He said as he was leaving, the employee charged at him. The officer was unable to view any camera footage.

At Applebees at Northgate, police said a customer fled the restaurant without paying for a $7 cocktail. An alert bartender quickly pursued him into an adjacent business (Old Navy) and detained him until law enforcement arrived. The restaurant manager opted to forgo pressing charges due to the nominal amount involved.

A man said he parked his bicycle at 1001 Broad St. outside the Public Library and went inside. He later discovered it had been stolen. He said he believed he locked his bike on the rack with a chain but did state it was possible he did not wrap it around the rack as well. There were no security cameras in front of the building nor did any witnesses step forward. The victim said that the bicycle was worth about $500. It is a gray GT Aggressor Pro with red lettering.

The manager of the Circle K on Shallowford Road said a known shoplifter entered the store and walked towards the energy drinks. He said it was the same shoplifter from an earlier incident. The same employee was working at the store and was able to verify that this was the same woman. A red sedan pulled into the parking lot of the Circle K and two heavyset black females got out of the vehicle. The passenger was wearing a black and white striped shirt and shorts carrying a large bag again. They both walked into the store and the woman in the white and black striped shirt walked to the drinks. The manager said he believes that the female placed some energy drinks in her purse but was unable to provide any proof of it. After watching the video footage he saw the female walkto the cold cooler and pick up a sub sandwich. She then placed the sub sandwich in her purse and walked towards the counter to the driver. After the other female paid for her merchandise they both walked out of the store and the female in the black and white striped shirt did not pay for the merchandise in her bag. She got in the red sedan. The red sedan had a Tennessee tag and it came back to a red Chevy Cruise.

 Police were asked to give a woman a phone call about a male that has illicit photos of her and was threatening to post those pictures. The woman said that she met this guy named Kyle on Tender and after a few interactions sent an illicit photo of herself that she took of herself to him. She had since decided to not have any contact with Kyle and now Kyle was threatening to post the photo of her on social media. The woman was calling to gather information about what she could do and was told that Kyle could be charged with harassment at this time and then if the photo was posted he could be charged again. The woman was clear on the information and decided to not press any charges at this time. She also said that she did not know the last name of Kyle and only knows that he lives in Dallas, Ga.

At Hidden Creek Apartments at 7710 E. Brainerd Road, an officer while patrolling the areaI observed a white Lawn Guys Ford pickup with the driver's side door open. There was a hat and shoe on the ground outside the door, and two still cold Sam Adams beers. There was no one around the vehicle. This vehicle was also parked improperly, obstructing traffic and not in a proper space. The complex management is aware that this vehicle is a consistent problem and is attempting to locate the resident this vehicle belongs to.

A woman got herself locked in her room at the Microtel Inn on McCutcheon Road. Police responded to the room and found that the deadbolt to the door was unable to be manipulated therefore the door was unable to be opened. The Fire Department was called to breach the door. Fire successfully breached the door using a "Hooligan" tool and the woman was ushered out of the room successfully.
