Circuit Court Clerk Larry Henry Says Some Citizens Getting Bogus Jury Summonses

  • Friday, August 9, 2019

Circuit Court Clerk Larry Henry said some Hamilton County citizens are getting bogus jury summonses in the mail.

He said two "terrified" local residents showed up at his General Sessions Court office at the City/County Courts Building on Friday.

Clerk Henry said, "This is entirely bogus. We do not send out any juror papers asking people to send us money."

He said the form said the citizen could make a $917 bond by use of a One Vanilla pre-paid card.

The form directs the recipients to appear at "United States District Court District of South Tennessee" though the address is a state courts building at 600 Market St.

Clerk Henry said, "This has my name on it, but I, obviously, had nothing to do with it."
