Firefighter Suffers Heat-Related Injury In House Fire Friday Evening

A firefighter suffered a heat-related injury while fighting a fire Friday evening.

 

A neighbor who spotted smoke helped get fire crews to the home off Shallowford Road. 

 

The Chattanooga Fire Department was called to the house in the 2200 block of Beeler Avenue before 6:30 p.m. Smoke appeared to be coming from underneath the structure.

 

When firefighters arrived and went inside, there was no smoke. 

 

They cut cut holes in the floor and in the side of the house.

They found the fire under the flooring and got it extinguished. 

 

None of the residents were home at the time of the fire.

 

Quint 7, Squad 9, Quint 6, Engine 15, Squad 13, Engine 4, Quint 13, Quint 21, and Battalion 2 and 3 responded, as well as Hamilton County EMS. 

 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

 

The firefighter was treated on the scene.
