A large garage and some cars were destroyed Friday afternoon in a fire.
At 3:45 p.m., the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department responded to a large garage fire at 13818 Pierce Road (Highway 58 area).
The first engine on the scene reported a large metal garage on fire housing several cars with propane tank explosions. Highway 58 VFD requested a Mutual Aid response for several fire agencies to respond with water tenders, engines and personnel to the scene. Tri-Community VFD, Bradley County Fire Rescue and Meigs County Fire responded to the scene. Chattanooga Fire Department and East Ridge Fire Department stood by at Highway 58 fire stations for any additional emergency calls.
Fire officials reported the 36x50 foot metal garage is a total loss. Several cars and tools were destroyed in the fire.
No injuries were reported but Hamilton County EMS was on the scene for any potential injuries to first responders. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating the cause of the fire. Damages are estimated at $300,000.
