Robert "Tiny" Blocker has been charged with attempted second-degree murder after police said he fired a shot at a man who was with his former girlfriend. The shot was fired as Blocker chased the man as well as the female with her four children down streets in Alton Park.

Blocker, 39, of 4118 Fagan St., is also charged with five counts of aggravated assault, attempted aggravated burglary, reckless endangerment and possession of a gun by a felon.

In the incident last Friday, police were told there had been a shooting at Central Avenue and Halsey Street and the victim was lying in bushes. Police found the man lying in the back seat of a woman's vehicle.

The victim said he was at a woman's house when her ex-boyfriend tried to break in through a side window. He said he and the woman and her kids ran out with the man pursuing them. He said a shot was fired at Central and Halsey.

One of the women who had dropped the man off at the house said he called them to come back, saying a man was trying to fight him. A woman said as she was returning to the location she heard a shot and saw the man running down the street being followed by another man.

Police located the woman and her children at a house on Dorris Street. She gave a similar account as the man did.

She said Blocker was upset because she had ended their relationship.

Police found a 9mm shell casing at Central and Halsey.

While police were collecting the shell casing, a man came up and said he had video of the incident. It showed a man follow another man down the street and shoot at him.

In 1995, Blocker was charged along with his brother and cousin with the murder of a cab driver. Police said the brother, who was 17, fired the shot. Robert Blocker was then 15.

He was first given a life prison sentence, then the case was sent back by the state Court of Criminal Appeals for a suppression hearing.
