A Chattanooga man awaiting trial for attempted first-degree murder has been arrested after being found with illegal drugs, a digital scale and a loaded handgun.

Keontae Lewaun Bush, 22, of 2907 Judy Ann Dr., faces drug charges along with unlawful possession of a gun and having a gun while under the influence of drugs.

Bush was arrested after police stopped his vehicle on Wilcox Boulevard to check out tinted windows on the car.

Police said they smelled an odor of marijuana.

They then located marijuana, crack and powder cocaine and digital scales, along with the loaded weapon.

Kenequa Strickland was also in the vehicle.

Police were told that Bush regularly uses marijuana and had used it earlier that day and that Ms. Strickland uses cocaine and carries a loaded gun.

An officer said Bush asked to be able to make a phone call. He said when he got his phone he quickly deleted a text message before the officer could stop him.

Bush was in the news in February 2018 when he was shot by someone in a passing vehicle in the 3300 block of Campbell Street.

In November 2018, he was charged after his ex-girlfriend said he fired shots at her, then ran her off I-75.

Bush is charged with attempted first-degree murder, reckless endangerment, domestic assault and possessing a firearm during the commission of a felony in that case.

The former girlfriend said the incident began after she had tire trouble at the McDonald's parking lot on Lee Highway. She said while she was stopped a Nissan driven by Bush pulled up beside her. She said Ayonnika Watkins was the front seat passenger and Shancika Bush (mother of Keontae L. Bush) was in the back with Brandie Lee.

She said Ms. Lee yelled, "I told you I was gonna get you bitch."

She said Ms. Watkins then got out and opened her driver door. The woman said she then sped out of the parking lot onto Lee Highway with the Nissan behind her.

She said one shot was fired at her vehicle while at McDonald's. She said a second shot was fired at her as she got onto I-75 southbound. She said she could see the muzzle fire from the driver side of the Nissan.

She said while on the freeway that Bush pulled up to the left side of her vehicle, then he collided with her car, running her off the road. During the crash she hit her head on the vehicle, causing a large bump on her forehead.

Police found a bullet hole in the vehicle.

Police at the time said Bush had a prior history of illegal firearm possession and had a current warrant for domestic assault involving another former girlfriend.
