A Brainerd man is facing a charge of aggravated vehicular assault after a wreck that left his 32-year-old daughter with life-threatening injuries.

Police said Connell Moore, 62, of 4703 Tomahawk Trail, fled the hospital without checking on his daughter, who was not responsive at the scene and had serious head injuries.

Moore is also charged with driving on a revoked or suspended license, DUI, reckless driving, having no insurance, and failure to maintain lane.

Police said he had three prior DUIs.

He was just taken into custody this week for the incident that happened last Oct. 25.

Police said Moore was driving in the rain in the 700 block of Tunnel Boulevard when he lost control of the vehicle and began to slide sideways. The vehicle went to the other side of the road before striking a utility pole on the passenger side.

Police said Moore was unsteady on his feet, had slurred speech and bloodshot eyes. He smelled of an alcoholic beverage. He told police he had been drinking earlier that day.
