PHOTOS: Erlanger Hospital building alternative care sites in parking garage

Erlanger Hospital is currently building alternative care sites in a portion of the parking garage, a spokesperson confirmed to Channel 3.

Channel 3 earlier obtained photos of tents under construction on the first floor of the parking garage at the hospital.

When reached for comment, Robbie Tester, director of Erlanger's COVID-19 Emergency Management Response Team, said the tents will be used to accommodate potential patient overflow needs.

Tester says the treatment sites are being built out of an abundance of caution and won't be utilized until the need arises.

Erlanger Spokesperson Pat Charles says the hospital is in a state of "continuous" emergency management preparation in anticipation of a surge of patients coming to the hospital.

Channel 3 reached out to CHI Memorial and Parkridge Hospitals to see if they are setting up similar operations.

"CHI Memorial has established dedicated units to handle any potential positive COVID patients," said Karen Long, spokesperson for CHI Memorial. "We do not have alternative care sites."

Channel 3 has not yet received information from Parkridge.
