PREVIOUS STORY: The Chattanooga Lookouts beloved mascot was found safe and sound early Wednesday after it was reported stolen yesterday.

Looie was found less than 150 yards away from the stadium just before 5 a.m. He had been thrown on the side of the road in the pouring rain. A maintenance worker with the Aquarium was out in the area and saw a big red head soaking wet and quickly realized what it was.

The Chattanooga Lookouts front office came to work Tuesday morning and noticed some things were out of place. They started to look around a little deeper and found that Looie has been stolen.

"He was behind locked doors, and they beat the doors in to get down in the door,” said Lookouts President, Rich Mozingo.

They called Chattanooga Police and immediately went out on social media pages to get the word out.

It only took about one day for the beloved mascot to be spotted.

"It was just a wet head sitting there,” Brian Hunter told us.

Brian Hunter woke up Wednesday, not knowing he was about to be a hero for the city of Chattanooga.

“Looie's a big part of what we've been doing here for the last 22 years,” Mozingo said.

Hunter works with the Aquarium and was making his loop around the neighborhood when he spotted something weird.

"I saw something red on the side of the road back there at Power House Alley. I heard the story yesterday, and I knew to stop and look at it because I kind of thought I knew what it was, and it was Looie,” Hunter told us.

Found about a hundred yards away from where it was stolen. The nearly $3,000 head was creating panic in the Lookout's front office for about twenty-four hours.

"We kind of thought this is one of those things that once you've stolen Looie's head, what do you do with him? I mean there's not a real great market out there for it,” Mozingo said.

Perpetrators must have gotten scared from all the buzz and dumped it on the side of the road... but at least he's safe at home now.

“He is kind of the quintessential part of what we do out here at the ballpark,” said Mozingo.

The Lookouts showed us a picture of Looie lying on the side of the road early this morning but didn't want to show it publicly to ruin young children's image of the mascot.

Whoever is responsible could be facing felony charges.
