Hamilton Co. Health Department Administers 100,000th Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine

Hamilton County, TN (WDEF) – The Hamilton County Health Department has administered 100,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine. In a press release Monday, the department acknowledged that this marks a profound milestone in vaccination efforts in Hamilton County.

Vaccination efforts started in December, 2020 with first responders and front line workers receiving the first batches of the vaccine at the Tennessee Riverpark. The Department eventually expanded vaccinations operations to include Enterprise South Nature Park and the CARTA Bus Barn. The department can provide 3,165 doses in a single day when all three sites are running.

“The staff and volunteers working at the vaccination sites have done a tremendous job—persevering through changes in weather elements and physical challenges that accompany this task. We hope this landmark encourages those who have not been vaccinated to consider participating in this significant act of prevention,” says Health Department Administrator Becky Barnes. “Let’s vaccinate our way out of this pandemic!”

30.05% of the Hamilton County population has received at least one dose of the vaccine and 17.69% of the population is fully vaccinated, according to the Tennessee Department of Health’s vaccine data dashboard.
