East Lake apartment fire displaces 9 people

CHATTANOOGA (WDEF) – Chattanooga firefighters battled a blaze in East Lake tonight that put several families out.

It happened at a home that had been converted to apartments in the 3100 block of Dodds Avenue before 6:30 PM.

Everyone got out of the apartments in time.

But one adult and one child were taken to the hospital with smoke inhalation.

Firefighers quickly got it under control.

But five adults and four children were displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
