Get Vaccinated Chattanooga holds block party in East Chattanooga

CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (WDEF)- The Get Vaccinated Chattanooga team was hard at work today in East Chattanooga.

This was the first weekend of three that the team will be hosting neighborhood block parties to encourage residents to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

CHI Memorial’s staff was onsite administering the vaccine and educating the community on the importance of the shot.

Dr. Ternae Jordan says, “Because of so much misinformation, there are people that are still fearful and there are certain zip codes, like this one, 37406 where there are 30 some odd percent vaccinated. So, since many people in these neighborhoods, cannot get to the vaccine, we are bringing it to them.”

Chattanooga Council Isiah Hester says, “We’re going out. We’re knocking on doors. We’re phone making. We’re getting folks out. We’re getting folks energized to come out and to be vaccinated.”

Next week’s the event will be at Calvin Donaldson Elementary.
