Fire companies respond after smoke found at Sequoyah Plant

HAMILTON COUNTY, Tenn. (WDEF) – Multiple fire companies responded to the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant in Soddy-Daisy this morning.

According to a spokesperson with TVA, employees saw smoke coming from Unit 2 which was already offline for a scheduled refueling outage.

Malinda Hunter with TVA Strategic Communications says there is no safety issue and no equipment issue at this time.

Hunter says the smoke issue has been resolved and TVA is investigating to determine the cause of the smoke.
